Take A Muna (Kultura Montreal)

  • Decarie Square 6900 Boulevard Décarie Montréal, QC, H3X 2T8 Canada (map)

Join us for an engaging and insightful panel on mental health featuring Filipinx-Canadian professionals from diverse fields, and inspired by Filipina-Canadian artist and nurse Han Han’s song “Take a Muna.”

Brought to you by Centre Kapwa, a nonprofit organization decolonizing Filipinx-Canadian diaspora mental health and wellness through art, movement, and conversations, and moderated by Andi Vicente. This conversation with Veronica Jane Bertiz, Jacqueline Colting-Stol, and Janette Salcedo, will explore the unique challenges and strengths within the Filipinx-Canadian community, including intergenerational expectations, cultural stigma, and the importance of culturally competent care.

Our panelists will share their professional insights and personal experiences navigating wellness in both their work and community. The discussion will also highlight the role of cultural identity, migration, and community support in shaping mental health outcomes. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the nuanced mental health realities faced by Filipinx-Canadians, while also learning about resources, strategies, and practices to promote healing. This panel aims to create an affirming space for dialogue, empowerment, and collective growth. Open to all who are interested in mental health and community well-being.
